Seaside Twill vs. Seaside Luxe: What is the difference?

We've added another Seaside model to our range of barefoot sandals this year: The newly produced Seaside Luxe are now available in the Feelgrounds online shop – the perfect opportunity to grab a pair of Seasides for this summer!

In this blog post, we introduce the new sandal model, explain its similarities to our first Seaside model, and highlight the differences between the two. Our popular first Seaside barefoot sandal with cotton straps will, of course, remain available. To avoid confusion with our new Seaside Luxe model, we have officially renamed our first sandal model " Seaside Twill ."

While Seaside Twill is a very casual sandal with a focus on natural and breathable materials, our new Seaside Luxe Style is a slightly more elegant version thanks to its faux leather straps.

Both Seaside models feature the same flexible yet durable rubber sole. In both cases, Seaside sandals are lined with a natural cork insole for a comfortable feel against the skin. The sole's thickness of just 7 mm allows you to feel the ground beneath your feet, while still providing sufficient support for comfortable wear on asphalt and other hard surfaces. The secure fit of the barefoot sandal, the wide toe box, and the flat, heel-free sole promote a natural gait.

What are the differences between the two models?

Color selection and sizes

Both barefoot sandal models are unisex and, like all current Feelgrounds shoes, are available in sizes EU 35 to EU 49. The Seaside Twill is available in six colors: Biscuit Beige, Burgundy Red, Black, Deep Olive, Dusty Pink, Navy Blue, and Stone Grey. Our new Seaside Luxe model is available in Black, All Black, Metallic Rose, and Sienna.

Belt material

The main difference between the two sandals is the material used for the straps. Seaside Twill has natural cotton straps, while Seaside Luxe features more elegant faux leather straps. Both materials are great; simply choose whichever you prefer. While the cotton straps create a more casual look, the Seaside Luxe, with its faux leather straps, is also perfect for many dressier occasions.

cut

Seaside Luxe is available from the start with the improved cut of the second Seaside Twill production batch (Spring 2022). This means that both this year's Seaside Twill pairs and all Seaside Luxe pairs have a slightly larger Velcro closure area on the heel strap compared to the first Seaside Twill generation (which we launched in Summer 2021). This is especially helpful for customers who wear Seaside with a tight heel strap. We've also given Seaside Luxe another update: the strap section that extends beyond the toe post in front of the small rivet is shorter on Seaside Luxe, resulting in an even more comfortable fit. All future Seaside Twill generations (from 2023 onwards) will also benefit from this update.

Size selection

Seaside Luxe shoes are true to size. If you already own a pair of Seaside Twill shoes , we recommend choosing the same size for Seaside Luxe, as the sole has identical proportions.

Too much space in front of the toes can lead to frequent tripping in sandals. That's why we've made the Seaside soles slightly shorter than the soles of our other closed shoe styles. Therefore, we recommend that you wear the same size in Seaside as you normally wear in your other Feelgrounds shoes. You can find the exact measurements for the sole length and width of Seaside on the Seaside product pages under "Size Information" or on our dedicated size guide page .

Choosing your perfect Seaside size depends not only on the length and width of your foot, but also on its volume. Seaside Twill is best suited for feet with a medium to low instep. Seaside Luxe, in comparison, has a slightly looser fit and is therefore perfect for a medium instep. The straps of both models feature an elastic band on the inside of the instep to ensure a good fit for a variety of foot shapes. However, for feet with a particularly low instep, we recommend Seaside Twill.

For customers whose feet fall exactly between two sizes, we recommend choosing the size according to their foot volume. If you have a wider foot, choose the larger size. If you have a narrower foot, choose the smaller size.

This year we've also updated our Seaside size guide PDF. The printable PDF now includes not only the sole length but also its complete outline, allowing you to easily check compatibility in terms of width and length. The position of the sandal's toe post is also marked on the PDF.

Same care instructions for both Seaside models.

You can clean the sandal straps with a soft brush, some water, and a milddetergent . For cleaning the soles, we recommend a soft, dry brush to remove loose dirt. Afterwards, you can spray a thin layer of shoe disinfectant spray to neutralize any odors.

Note: Cork is a natural material and can change color when exposed to moisture. Therefore, discoloration over time, for example from perspiration, is completely normal. These sandals are not suitable for sports or wearing in water.
